Golden P2P Open House 1

As Jefferson County Open Space continues to construct the regional Peaks to Plains (P2P) Trail, the City of Golden is asking community members to determine the best route for the P2P through Downtown Golden. Recognizing that the Clear Creek Trail through Downtown Golden has become increasingly popular, the City is providing an opportunity for community members to weigh in on the best "secondary route" that will be part of the P2P Trail. A project kickoff open house was held on Monday, June 3rd. This online survey presents the same background information and questions that were provided during the open house. A series of informational boards are provided, followed by seven activities. To learn more about the project and upcoming engagement opportunities, visit: https://www.guidinggolden.com/p2p-downtown-golden. For any questions navigating the survey, email Matt Wempe, Principal Planner, at mwempe@cityofgolden.net.

I don't know the neighborhood well enough to offer an informed decision. I think it is going to continue to be difficult to mix cyclists trying to pass through Golden with cyclists & pedestrians trying to get to local destinations. For the thru cyclists, the northbound ones could be routed up the trail by The Eddy and towards North Table. For those headed toward Wheat Ridge, I thought there was discussion about 8th or 9th through ClayWorks to Tucker Gulch. For those headed towards C-470/Rooney Road Trails, no idea. ... I understand why there is a desire to keep tubers on the north side of the river. As someone who uses that trail to do things other than tubing, it would be great to put the tubers on the south side from Washington to 6th Avenue.

Suggestion
Don’t try to force the biking traffic from the P2P onto a bike lane, it won’t work, people will just ignore it. I suggest tubes on N side only, bikes on S side (encouraged). Pedestrians can use both.
Any alternative path for the P2P needs to be a true path and not a bike lane, or nobody will use it.

All tubers to stay on the north side of the river always.

I think it is good to encourage cyclists to use the south side of the creek, but consider that I do sometimes need to cross to the north side to access the trails, parks, library, rec center, etc.

Are we talking about a separate additional path? 8th St. or 10th St.?
