Golden P2P Open House 1

As Jefferson County Open Space continues to construct the regional Peaks to Plains (P2P) Trail, the City of Golden is asking community members to determine the best route for the P2P through Downtown Golden. Recognizing that the Clear Creek Trail through Downtown Golden has become increasingly popular, the City is providing an opportunity for community members to weigh in on the best "secondary route" that will be part of the P2P Trail. A project kickoff open house was held on Monday, June 3rd. This online survey presents the same background information and questions that were provided during the open house. A series of informational boards are provided, followed by seven activities. To learn more about the project and upcoming engagement opportunities, visit: https://www.guidinggolden.com/p2p-downtown-golden. For any questions navigating the survey, email Matt Wempe, Principal Planner, at mwempe@cityofgolden.net.

Suggestion
Here are a few thoughts (big ideas) without the context of having attended the meeting on June 3rd:
* a north trail created to continue along the south side of HWY 58th
* collaboration with Clayworks to build trail bridges over Ford and Washington that run East/West to avoid the intersections
* collaboration with Church Ditch Water Authority to use the land between HWY 58 and the ditch to build a trail
* new trail by the dog park and the Eddy
* new trail tunnel under the intersection of 93/6/58
* connect to the Clear Creek Canyon Park Gateway Trailhead and onto the upper trail to connect to the bridge over Clear Creek and the P2P trail
Perhaps some of these ideas are feasible? I will look for updates to the secondary route project. Thank you for working to try and allow for a secondary route to be planned. The current Clear Creek Trail that runs along the creek (north and south) is not a safe trail for users of the P2P trail due to the excessive current congestion/trail traffic.
