Louisville Downtown Vision Plan

We are here to find out what you want in Downtown Louisville!

In Fall 2023, the City of Louisville engaged a team of planning and design consultants to create a downtown vision plan for the City. The intent of the project is to provide a vision for downtown revitalization and related concept-level designs for the plan that will focus on Main Street, Front Street, South Boulder Road, Steinbaugh Pavilion, and areas around the South Street Underpass. We are excited to begin the design process for the plan and hope to hear from you at our upcoming events.

We're eager to learn about the community's vision for the future of Downtown. Our attention is on enhancing public spaces such as plazas, patios, streets, landscaping, public art, and street amenities. Additionally, we aim to bolster wayfinding, crafting a distinct downtown district identity through signage and enhancing transit and mobility for the safety and convenience of everyone who visits our downtown area.

Suggestion
I know parking is at a premium downtown but it would be nice if the parking next to the pavilion could be turned into a park w/ playground and maybe seating for the the various music events. Don't take away the existing pavilion. Just enhance the area prioritizing people over cars.

Agreement
Concept A makes us appear different than the cookie cutter appearance of other cities.

Concern
You're adding almost 2 miles of bike paths, plus Via Appia. Looks like less parking downtown. Do you really think that bike lanes will add to a vibrant downtown? What about families with small children? Will they walk several blocks to the library or to buy sweets? Will seniors or those with mobility restrictions? Much easier to drive to Lafayette to do business.

Add "street trees" where diagonal parking is being extended to help create a barrier between existing houses and cars.

The new seating area in front of the library is really attractive. Love the murals, metal screen above stairs and the design of the patio and tables. Seating area like this might be nice by city hall.
