Suggestion
Alleys are a great way to increase usable space and promote walkability! Maybe coupling that with a small business program to provide small businesses with low-cost pup-up space.
Question
General question: how is transit accommodated in the plan? Downtown is currently served by the DASH and FlexRide services.
Concern
With the implementation of Commuting Solutions' regional bike share feasibility study, the goal is to bring more people to and through downtown using a bikeshare system. Wayfinding, signage, and pedestrian/cyclist safety is an important part of incentivizing that use!
Suggestion
One major issue residents/business owners voiced during meetings is the lack of parking- what other ways are you incentivizing traveling here beyond SOV usage? The plan proposes new ways to park, but not new ways to travel.
Suggestion
When I attended the public local business meeting representing Commuting Solutions, business owners voiced frustration at current lack of public bike racks (people are commonly chaining bikes to trees/poles outside of their businesses). Could the integration of minimalist/artistic bike racks be a larger part of this plan?
Concern
Having a complete street with designated bike lanes off such a busy road is great! What infrastructure/wayfinding/safety/etc. is in place for cyclists when leaving this stretch of road?
Question
"Bike riders...are prioritized" but does not say how- what does bike infrastructure look like on these shared streets?
Suggestion
adaptive and even city-rentable space would be a great additive
Suggestion
signs of unique design are great - but I would love Lousiville to lead the charge in accessibility (or at least have one location that has this option)
Suggestion
mini play spaces along with theme walks (that can include a photo opportunity) - i think would be amazing - some of my favorite features of boulder -
Suggestion
Louisville should prepare some space for future train station with parking space. Prefer to build parking area east of the track.
Suggestion
I love the idea of more navigation signs-- showing how to get to main destinations/thoroughfares and historical markings. Great idea.
